An out of practice reader discussing the books I get around to reading.
Still kicking. Trudging through, but kicking just the same.
I feel like I need to apologize to the book for thinking it was gonna be a chore. It might not have me completely gripped but it has sucked me in a lot more than I thought it would. I really do adore Mr. Gaunt. I'm always a sucker for a good devil. The other characters are pretty interesting as well. Like, they're well written so I don't mind following along.
I watched the movie a few weeks ago and it's easy to see that it missed out on a lot of the depth of the novel. Maybe it couldn't add it in because of time constraints or something, but at the end of the day it's a loss. I enjoy the movie, but it's nothing special. Pretty cheesy.
Only critique so far is I don't like how King writes sex scenes. I've never been a big fan of how he handles those scenes, though before I blamed it on my high school immaturity at the time. Now I just don't care for his style. Something about the way he writes those scenes make me feel like a middle schooler in sex-ed. Pretty awkward. Probably just a personal thing.
If the movie follows the basic plot events pretty closely, I'm not looking forward to what's to come for Raider. That'll really suck.
